Principle Responsibilities

Account Management

  • Primary function to support Account Executive on all aspects of Client Management
  • Day-to-day contact for service issues; including but not limited to troubleshooting and service escalation, billing, eligibility, claim resolution, understanding of coverage etc.
  • Work with Account Executive and client team in the overall development and execution of Benefit Strategy Calendars, Utilization Reviews and Renewal/Marketing Strategy development.   
  • Oversees Benefit Butler activity and responses by providing supervision, support and/or training to Benefit Service Representative
  • Work with AE and Communications to provide clients with educational materials based on trends or compliance initiatives
  • Maintains communication and builds strong relationships with carriers/vendors to support clients
  • Submit work product for peer review without exception and provide accurate and thorough peer review services for team members upon request.  
  • Communicate thoroughly and expeditiously with the team members regarding client activities, initiatives, and any other pertinent matters 
  • Seek out and participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations. 
  • Aid in finding new and creative solutions to meet client needs and goals
  • Manage any off-cycle implementations of new products and services

Renewal, Marketing and Open Enrollment 

  • Assist Account Executive with marketing preparation, including sending requests for proposals and establishing timeline
  • Respond to carriers/vendors questions, track and file proposals/denials
  • Prepare and provide benchmarking along with proposals for client evaluation
  • Coordinate and lead all open enrollment activities
    • Responsible for working one-on-one with Communications to prepare open enrollment materials by providing content including rates, reviewing materials, and making edit suggestions 
    • Responsible for conducting Open Enrollment presentations, both in person and virtually, and prepared to answer questions regarding coverages
    • Troubleshoots all open enrollment issues as they arise
  • Prepares, Manages, and coordinates carrier/vendor plan implementations (may include technology implementation)
  • Audits first invoices post-enrollment to ensure that rates are accurate

  • Typical size: 100 to 5,000 employees


  • 5+ Years of experience dealing with the financials of health and welfare plans, ideally gained in a benefit consulting/brokerage firm or health underwriting or actuarial function (pricing/valuation) of an insurance company
  • Life & Accident License 
  • Bachelor’s Degree – preferred 
  • Advanced (Excellent) Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel (formulas and pivot tables)
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one’s work fits into the broader landscape
  • Strong analytical and integrative skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way
  • Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues, strong client service orientation
  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment
